Beyond by Gordon Thomas The focus currently remains on the FBI and CIA over their failures to act on credible evidence warning of a pending attack prior to September 11. But there is a growing possibility that other branches of the U.S. intelligence community will find themselves close-questioned if President Bush concedes to the intense pressure to have a whole-scale investigation.

Special Agent Wright accuses the FBI of obstructing investigative efforts that might have prevented some of the September 11 attacks.

Riyadh admits al-Qaeda terror network active in the kingdom DUBAI: Riyadh has grudgingly admitted that the al-Qaeda terror network of Saudi-born Osama bin Laden is active inside the kingdom after a series of disclosures from Washington to Casablanca made it nigh impossible to continue burying the Saudi connection.
Since the September 11 suicide hijackings in the United States, Saudi Arabia had repeatedly claimed that al-Qaeda posed no threat to the kingdom's security.
Even Tuesday's belated official announcement that a group linked to al-Qaeda was arrested for planning to attack key installations stressed the roles of non-Saudis, notably a Sudanese and an Iraqi. And Saudi newspapers were Wednesday quick to defend the kingdom against charges of hosting terrorists.

US intelligence officials have admitted they failed to unearth any sort of paper trail leading to the 11 September attacks.

They dressed and acted like Americans In the most detailed account so far of the investigation, the head of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) said that after seven months of relentless work America had found no hard evidence mentioning any aspect to the attacks on New York and Washington.

BEHIND THE ENRON SCANDAL & WTC ATTACKThe story of Big Oiland Osama bin LadenCHAPTER ONE OF A FORTHCOMING BOOKBy Jim Moore, Director of The Phoenix Foundation© Copyright 2002. All rights reserved.
For 15 years, an elite group of international powerbrokers, including Enron, Unocal, the Carlyle Group and the Bush-Cheney families have wanted to build a huge oil pipelinethrough Afghanistan, tapping into the vast Russian oil reserves.
With the Taliban in charge of Afghanistan, that wasn't going to happen. Now, with September 11 seared into our minds, it's "a done deal." President Bush has, by "executive order" placed a seal on the records of all presidentsgoing back to 1980, when Ronald Reagan became President. It also includes both his own records and his father's.
In Life of Double-Crosses, Egyptian Worked With Green Berets and Bin Laden SHARON THEIMER Associated Press Writers By Tom Hays and Published: Dec 29, 2001 When the Green Berets needed insight on the Middle East, they turned to one of the U.S. Army's own: Sgt. Ali Mohamed. When Osama bin Laden wanted help training troops and raising money for his al-Qaida terrorist network, he enlisted the same man, known as "Abu Mohamed ali Amriki," or "Mohamed the American." Now in U.S. custody at an undisclosed location, the Egyptian-born Mohamed, 49, ranks as one of the most puzzling figures in the war on terrorism. His story shows how a terrorist managed to infiltrate American society and join the Army, then turn his military training against his adopted country. In the end he also betrayed bin L
A Controlled Burn For several weeks now the smart money has been betting that the whirlwind of admissions and apparently damaging leaks about 9/11 has not been an uncontrolled disaster for the Bush Administration but instead has been a managed attempt at a "controlled burn," which refers to the somewhat counter-intuitive firefighters' practice of lighting small blazes in the path of an advancing wildfire in order to stop it. The name of the game is to admit one kind of wrongdoing in order to obscure another that is worse -- in Watergate parlance, a "limited hangout." Obviously a major part of the Bush Administration's strategy in spinning their prior knowledge of 9/11 is to direct attention to failures down the rungs.
"[Rohrabacher] says the Taliban are devout traditionalists—not terrorists or revolutionaries. He believes a Taliban takeover [of Afghanistan] would be a positive development."
—Washington Report on Middle East Affairs, November/December 1996 issue In the hours after the deadly Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist strikes, fear loomed that the federal government had fallen into disarray and would be impotent to stop additional attacks. It didn’t help that President George W. Bush hid for several hours at military installations in middle America or that a Bush staffer claimed (without evidence) that Air Force One was a target of foreign terrorists. Members of a special House Intelligence subcommittee on international terrorism evacuated the U.S. Capitol and, in hopes of calming public anxiety, called an emergency press conference.

Early Warnings on Moussaoui Are DetailedBy PHILIP SHENON
ASHINGTON, Oct. 17 — The Central Intelligence Agency warned its stations around the world in August 2001 that Zacarias Moussaoui had been arrested in Minnesota after raising suspicion at a flight school there and that he was a "suspect airline suicide hijacker," Congressional investigators reported today.
About that time, the investigators said, the Minneapolis office of the F.B.I. told bureau headquarters in Washington that there was reason to believe that Mr. Moussaoui was acting with "others yet unknown" in a plot to hijack an airliner.

Germans 'foil US base attack' Police hold 16 after two Afghan attacks Weeks before the terrorist attacks on 11 September, the United States and the United Nations ignored warnings from a secret Taliban emissary that Osama bin Laden was planning a huge attack on American soil.
The warnings were delivered by an aide of Wakil Ahmed Muttawakil, the Taliban Foreign Minister at the time, who was known to be deeply unhappy with the foreign militants in Afghanistan, including Arabs.

Major Speeches | FBI Home Thank you, Roy (Eisenhardt) and good afternoon everyone. It's good to be back home. It brings back a lot of wonderful memories. My years in San Francisco were among the most satisfying and enjoyable of my career. It gave me the opportunity to work with some of the finest criminal justice and law enforcement professionals in the country. They taught me a great deal, and it was an honor to serve along side them.
As much as I miss San Francisco, I am grateful to have the opportunity to serve in what I believe to be the world's finest law enforcement agency -- the FBI. It is particularly rewarding to serve at this unparalleled moment in history, when America is depending on the FBI more than ever, when protecting the homeland from terrorist attacks has taken on new meaning and new urgency.
[ Home | 9/11 Webpage] FLASH 22 (2/19/02): Pearl Murder Link to 9/11 Ignored On Friday, February 22, the Wall Street Journal finally alluded tactfully to the reason, previously suppressed in this country, why Daniel Pearl's confessed kidnapper, Ahmed Omar Saeed Sheikh, had made big news in Indian newspapers last October.
The Journal wrote only that "Sheikh was suspected of wiring $100,000 to Sept. 11 ringleader Mohamed Atta." While interesting in itself, this statement was a highly bowdlerized distillation of the story that made headlines last October 9 in Times of India:
"NEW DELHI: While the Pakistani Inter Services Public Relations claimed that former ISI director-general Lt-Gen Mahmud Ahmad sought retirement after being superseded on Monday, the truth is more shocking.
Fair Lawn, NJ, January 4, 2002-Bill Manning, Fire Engineering's editor in chief, is summoning members of the fire service to "A Call to Action." In his January 2002 Editor's Opinion, "$elling Out the Investigation" (below), he warns that unless there is a full-blown investigation by an independent panel established solely for that purpose, "the World Trade Center fire and collapse will amount to paper- and computer-generated hypotheticals." Manning explained: "Clearly, there are burning questions that need answers .... The lessons about the buildings' design and behavior in this extraordinary event must be learned and applied in the real world."
In an interview with the New York Daily News today, Manning reiterated his call for a "full-throttle, fully resourced" investigation into the collapse of the World Trade Center. He is asking members of the fire service to read "WTC 'Investigation'? A Call to Action" in the January 2002 issue of Fire Engineering and at fireengineering.com and to contact their representatives in Congress and officials in Washington to ask that a blue ribbon panel be convened to thoroughly investigate the WTC collapse.

[Zbigniew] Brzezinski not long ago revealed that on July 3, 1979, unknown to the American public and Congress, President Jimmy Carter secretly authorised $500million to create an international terrorist movement that would spread Islamic fundamentalism in Central Asia and "destabilise" the Soviet Union... The CIA called this Operation Cyclone and in the following years poured $4billion into setting up Islamic training schools in Pakistan (Taliban means "student").

In the immediate aftermath of 9/11, a number of foreign commentators noted their surprise at the fact that no high-level U.S. intelligence officials had immediately offered their resignations. In the face of such a ghastly failure, any normal nation would have seen at least a few sackings amongst the top ranks. Not so in this case... The American public had to wait five months before seeing even the beginnings of an inquiry if that word is even fair. CIA director Tenet's mid-February "testimony" before a kid-gloved congressional panel was insultingly inadequate and uncontrite. Both Bush and Cheney took the extraordinary step of asking key congressional leaders to hold back into their investigations of 9/11, and they have

FBI interviewed witness last summer who warned Muhammad talked of police killings, gun silencer Posted by: Web Producer Paola Farer October 25, 2002 - 7:25 PM
UNDATED (AP) - The FBI in Washington state interviewed a witness last summer who claimed that John Allen Muhammad, now one of the sniper suspects, was trying to obtain a silencer for his gun and spoke of killing police officers, law enforcement officials said Friday. FBI agents and local police had concerns about some aspects of the witness' account and decided to treat the threat as a local issue of officer safety, the officials told The Associated Press. Authorities said emphatically Friday that nothing they received in June or July from the w
The Vreeland case:Delmart Vreeland, an inmate jailed in Canada claiming to be an officer in US Naval Intelligence, says that he knew of the 9/11 plot beforehand and tried in vain to put out a warning to authorities. One of the recipients of his warning was Canadian CSIS agent Marc Bastien, who was later murdered in Moscow. Vreeland's claim was at first laughed off as a tall tale, but it has now been verified that he is indeed who he says he is, and elements of his story are being steadily corroborated in courtroom testimony. His original warning, placed in a sealed envelope before 9/11 and later opened by law enforcement officers, proves that he did have prior knowledge. "The Nobel War Prize" by Michel Chossudovsky globalresearch.ca , 25 October/ octobre 2002
The 2002 Nobel Peace Prize was awarded to former President Jimmy Carter for: "his decades of untiring efforts to find peaceful solutions to international conflicts, to advance democracy and human rights and to promote economic and social development." (Norwegian Nobel Institute, http://www.nobel.no/eng_ins_new.html , 11 October 2002)
Liberal commentators in the US tend to view the decision of the Nobel Committee as a rebuff to the Bush administration’s war plans. Former president Carter, in contrast to George W., is said to have placed human rights at "the centrepiece of US foreign policy." In the words of the Norwegian Nobel Committee chairman Gunnar Berge, the award "should be seen as a criticism of the policy that the current US administration has adopted in relation to Iraq". (Quoted in the Toronto Star, 21 October 2002).

What is known: Two Boeing 767 airliners that departed from Boston, American Airlines Flight 11 and United Airlines Flight 175, were hijacked within fifteen to thirty minutes after they took off, converted to semi-stealthed missiles by turning off their transponders and then crashed into the North and South Towers of the World Trade Center at 8:45 and 9:03 AM. The FBI further determined from passenger lists and passport records the identities used by ten hijackers to buy tickets and board the two planes.
There were no communications whatsoever with the 4 airline pilots on the two planes after they climbed to their cruising altitude. There were no May day signals or even utterances from them heard during the attacks of their cockpits. There were no reports from witnesses who saw the actual attacks on the cockpits. There were no data, voice recorders, bodies or other evidence recovered from the debris. So what we know is based on two sources.

***NEWS*****ANALYSIS****COMMENTARY return to index Could U.S. Intelligence Failure to Act on September 11 Attacks be because Mossad was the Prime Source of Warnings? by Gordon Thomas The complex and often uneasy relationship between Israel’s Mossad and the U.S. intelligence community is emerging as a prime reason for the catastrophic failure of the CIA and FBI to act on advance warnings of an impending attack on America.
Eight days before the September 11 attack, Egypt’s senior intelligence chief, Omar Suleiman, informed the CIA station chief in Cairo that “credible sources” had told him that Osama bin-Laden’s network was “in the advanced stages of executing a significant operation against an American target.”
